Digital Managing Editor - NITV

    NITV is currently looking for a Managing Digital Editor who will need to ensure that the day to day editorial needs of the NITV online/digital team are supported, and undertaking their work in a way that reflects SBS’s Charter, Vision and Values and complies with relevant SBS policies, procedures and practices. 

    About the role

    The Digital Managing Editor is a key member of NITV who will develop and deliver strategies to better create meaningful and high quality digital content across all our platforms. Your work will support all of our unique TV programs and purposeful campaigns. You will shape the tone and editorial direction of our cross-network news, features and various multimedia projects from the NITV network.

    Reporting to the Managing Digital Producer, the Digital Managing Editor plays a leadership role within the digital content team and is a lynchpin role which spans across the NITV division as well as working with SBS News, the SBS Content (e.g. Food, On Demand) and social teams on a daily basis. All NITV Digital produced content passes through the Digital Managing Editor for subbing and audience engagement feedback.

    As a key member of the team you will be required to strategise and inform the company on how to better create meaningful and engaging digital content into each brand, including social, video and features. You will also be responsible for developing and supporting the implementation of an overarching, visionary digital content strategy that will amplify editorial and create ongoing brand loyalty with our audiences.

    About you

    We are looking for someone with advanced digital and editorial skills and proven experience in a digital editorial role. More specifically, you will have:

    • A strong knowledge of local and national Indigenous news, current affairs, culture and issues
    • At least two years' experience as a digital producer or in a leading editorial role.
    • A track record in managing and editing industry-leading, on-trend, engaging, and shareable content that speaks to existing audiences and reaches new audiences. Content type spans from text articles (podcasts, features, news, comment pieces), listicles, social video and multimedia interactives.
    • In-depth knowledge of social media, with an obsession for figuring out what people are sharing, liking, recommending and talking about online.
    • Experience managing editorial standards for digitally produced content, including news and current affairs.
    • Have a rich understanding of world news, media ethics, codes and guidelines.
    • Strong organisational, time and task management skills
    • Advanced coaching and leadership skills, with the ability to develop staff through effective, constructive feedback.

    This position is a pivotal role that works across multiple teams and divisions at NITV and SBS. You must be a proficient multi-tasker, a star collaborator and above all, enjoy working with people.
