The Role

This trading strategy role sits within the Business Operations team within SBS Media Sales. The Business Operations team is responsible for managing pricing and inventory, scheduling, business technologies and reporting to both internal stakeholders, SBS senior management and the SBS Board.

We're seeking an experienced trading strategist with a proven data and research background to join our National Operations Team – you will collaborate closely with the pricing and yield management team across our TV, radio and digital platforms and will work closely with the leaders within the national sales team and agencies using data and insights to pro-actively drive and build trading and commercial strategies.

The role will also help senior management within SBS identify and measure yield metrics and trading measures to drive SBS’s trading agenda. This includes supporting the business by bringing a research and qualitative understanding to help with rate cards, cost effectiveness measures and overall channel and platform pricing approach.

The Requirements

Ideally, we’re looking for someone who’s in a similar role within a major media organisation, media performance measurement or advertising agency and looking for their next challenge. You will be able to demonstrate exposure to trading, research and data analytics at your current organisation and will understand the complexities and drivers impacting pricing and yield management in the complex world of FTA TV, FTA and Digital Radio, BVOD, Digital and Display.

The below attributes and experience will contribute to your success in the role:

  • Experience managing high level stakeholders, formulating, presenting cross-platforms metrics
  • Sound strategic trading and thought leadership skills
  • Experience implementing and working with yield management tools and methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a research or data analytics function within a media publisher, media measurement and/or advertising based organisation
  • Advanced data science knowledge and experience, using the most up to date data visualisation, data science and data analytics software and tools
  • Able to demonstrate cross-platform or “cross-screen” trading insights, including Digital.
  • Preferable experience within an agency advertising environment and clear understanding of agency pricing and valuation principles.
