Development Manager Scripted

About the role

The Development Manager Scripted will be responsible for managing a pipeline of commissioned content in the Drama and Comedy genres that supports SBS’s priorities with an emphasis on programming reflecting Australia's diverse and multicultural society. You will work with the Head of Scripted to ensure cohesive and comprehensive management of the Scripted commissioning pipeline across Development and Production. This is a 24 month, specified period, full time role and working from home is available during COVID-19 restrictions. 

About you

You will have a strong understanding of the domestic and international TV marketplace, including knowledge of TV, the digital media landscape, and an awareness of trends in both the linear and streaming content platforms. You will be creative minded with a demonstrated track record of developing drama series.

In addition you will have;

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in scripted television development at a production company, network or streamer.
  • Education – BA/BS degree, related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and maintaining effective business relationships
  • Experience across feature film, short form series and prime time series preferred
  • International experience highly regarded and experience in a funding agency desirable
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are required. Knowledge of Adobe Premiere editing and Final Draft screenwriting software is highly desirable
