Hakha Chin Content Producer

At SBS Audio and Language Content (ALC), also known as SBS Radio, we’re expanding our horizons and platforms mix. If you have a passion for radio, but you are also comfortable working online, we’d like to hear from you.

The Audio and Language Content team is seeking a Producer to join us in the position of Content Producer of the Hakha Chin language program.

All content will be available on digital platforms with on demand audio podcasts accessible via the SBS website and SBS Radio app to meet the needs of Hakha Chin audiences.

About the role

Reporting to the Program Manager, the role of Hakha Chin Content Producer is to develop and deliver the editorial strategy for the Hakha Chin language group. This includes the production and delivery of distinctive and innovative multi-platform content for the Hakha Chin language program.

More specifically, the duties include:

  • Plan, prepare, assess, research, write, produce, sub-edit, translate and/or script audio and online content for presentation/publication
  • Generate, develop and foster content ideas for the relevant platform and language audience
  • Establish, develop and maintain appropriate contact with relevant stakeholders
  • Undertake professional development and training as required 
  • This role is based in either Sydney or Melbourne

About you

We are looking for someone with good communication skills and experience in journalism and/or media broadcasting. More specifically, you would have:

  • Demonstrated experience in broadcast journalism including the production and presentation of multiplatform content (radio, online, social media) and ability to write, compile and present news, sport and current affairs from a variety of sources
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Hakha Chin, including clear broadcast delivery. Candidates will be required to undergo a language assessment to demonstrate their proficiency in the Hakha Chin
  • Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, email and digital audio editing/production software
  • Good administrative abilities including accuracy and organisational skills
