News & Current Affairs Librarian

The News & Current Affairs Library is a dynamic, experienced team supporting daily news and sports broadcasts, online news & current affairs content creation and programs. We are dedicated to helping the News & Current Affairs producers bring to audiences the global and national news stories that matter.

About the role

This is a 2 year specified period, full time role, based in the SBS Artarmon office. As a member of our team you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and selecting vision for retention and broadcast
  • Carrying out research across databases and digital systems to facilitate the delivery of content within the newsroom
  • Basic editing in several software applications for vision archival and retention purposes
  • Accurate data entry, including adding relevant metadata and keywords to footage for retrieval and re-use

About you

We are looking for a highly organised, enthusiastic individual with a passion for News and Current Affairs and experience in information management to join our team, working alongside journalists, producers, editors and fellow media managers in the heart of the newsroom.

To succeed in this position, you:

  • Are able to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task, including data entry experience
  • Have strong organisational, communication, research and analytical skills
  • Have a good knowledge of news, current affairs and sport
  • Are able to prioritise tasks and to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Are able to remain calm under pressure and deliver on broadcast deadlines
  • Are available to work across a roster that includes evenings, weekends and public holidays
