About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Safety Manager to join the People and Culture team at SBS to become our subject matter expert on safety! This is a part time, stand-alone role (up to 30 hours per week) and will be the champion of a safety culture across the organisation. It’s an end to end and autonomous role supporting an exciting purpose driven organisation with diverse needs. An exciting combination of being hands on and innovative, it offers the ability to further develop and maintain how we manage Safety across Australia’s most diverse broadcaster.  The role will:

  • Provide guidance, clarity and support to senior management through relevant reporting requirements
  • Lead the development and maintenance of our safety culture through productive, respectful relationships and data
  • Understand the Comcare jurisdictional requirements and adapt to business needs
  • Ensure compliance with requirements for employees covered by legislation and the SBS Enterprise Agreement
  • Work closely with stakeholders at all levels of the business to accurately assess compliance
  • Provide training to relevant stakeholders on safety policy and procedures
  • Oversee auditing and investigation and interpret results
  • Recommend strategies and action to overcome barriers to compliance and measure effectiveness and more.     

About you

You should have at least three years’ experience working in similar role with strong administrative skills, including reporting and records management. You need to comfortable dealing with the day to day demands of incident management, response and reporting as well as being able to step up and provide broader strategic advice and guidance.  Your interpersonal skills will show your ability to build trust and influence diverse stakeholders. The ability to identify who you need to talk to, work with and quickly prioritise Safety objectives in organisational and divisional context is really important.
