About the role

Social Publishing and Management

  • Manage SBS’s flagship social profile and their communities
  • Use keen editorial or journalistic judgment to identify stories that resonate with the SBS audience
  • Use superior writing skills to craft headlines, sells, tweets and other social media posts that connect with audiences and establish SBS social media profiles as the home of quality content that is distinctively SBS.
  • Be aware of the content being published to the SBS website and across the suite of SBS pages and use analytics to determine which content will perform strongly on SBS’s flagship profiles.
  • Effectively use budget and targeting to achieve strategic goals
  • Be the expert in (a) the audience that SBS has; (b) the audience that SBS wants; (c) selling distinctive SBS content in a tailored way.
  • This role may require work outside standard hours according to business needs.

Social Insights, Reporting and Advice

  • Coordinate and report performance data on core profiles, including referral to SBS digital properties. Be in a position to report daily to the team on performance.
  • Work closely with the content producers and social marketing producers to distribute content from around the organisation, and share key trends and insights about performance.

Social Strategy

  • Monitor advances in social strategy and make recommendations about how these strategies can be deployed on SBS properties.

About you

We are looking for someone with excellent organisation and writing skills with a passion for social media. You will also need:

• 2+ years in managing large social community
• Demonstrable experience delivering high performing content on platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more
• Journalism or editorial background preferred
• Experience with social analytics
• Knowledge of paid social platforms and opportunities
• Experience in engaging multiple stakeholders
• Willingness to keep on top of new technologies, analytics programs and product developments
• Working understanding of media law and creative rights management


• Experience or ability with analytics software such as native insights, Chartbeat, Adobe Omniture, Crowdtangle, and Simply Measured will be highly regarded
• Knowledge Facebook Ads Manager and paid strategy will be highly regarded
• Basic knowledge of image and video editing (e.g. Adobe Photoshop and Premiere) will be highly regarded
