Strategy Analyst

This is a great opportunity to join the Corporate Strategy team as a Strategy Analyst and help shape and influence strategic decisions for the business. This role is not only about reporting, analysis and research, but also about building strong relationships with internal stakeholders across the business.

You will working on the strategy in a small team of 3 and reporting into the Senior Strategy Analyst.

About the role

This position will be responsible for the monthly reporting of KPIs and strategic initiatives to the SBS Executive and Board, and assisting the Corporate Strategy team with insights and data analysis on market trends, financial and operational data. More specifically, you will:

  • Liaise effectively with reporting leads in other Divisions to compile the monthly reporting on the status of key strategic initiatives to the Executive Committee, including critically evaluating status reporting
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to track quantitative KPIs and effectively collaborate with other Divisions to ensure timeliness and accuracy of the data collected
  • Assist with the preparation of externally-published annual documents such as the Corporate Plan and Annual Performance Statement
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as required
  • Support strategic projects by undertaking analysis of market trends, financial and operational data, and sourcing and reviewing information sources to understand industry best practices and activities of peer organisations
  • Assist with ad hoc financial modelling and the development of business cases
  • Assist in the preparation of papers and presentations, such as materials for strategy planning days and the annual Strategic Plan

About you

We are looking for someone who has strong technical and organisational skills but who is also able to communicate with a range of stakeholders, with different personalities, priorities and interests. This is not a senior role but it still requires 2-3 years experience in an analytical or reporting role (media preferred, but not essential). Ideally, you will have:

  • Strong numerical literacy and proficiency in data manipulation
  • A high level of accuracy with meticulous attention to detail
  • Well-developed analytical and research skills with the ability to distil trends from data
  • Computer literacy, particularly using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively and build rapport with internal and external stakeholders from different professional backgrounds and diverse cultures
  • Undergraduate qualifications
