Digital Content Editor, Audio & Language Content (Melbourne or Sydney bureau)

SBS’ Audio & Languages Content (ALC) provides coverage in 68 languages across radio, web, and social media. We’re looking for a Digital Content Editor to find the best stories across our division and make them shine online.

About the role

Reporting to ALC’s Digital Managing Editor and working alongside two counterparts, the Digital Content Editor coordinates, optimises and promotes digital content from multiple language teams in ALC. You will be the digital lead for the language programs in a specific group/s, responsible for editing news content, editorial planning and assisting with digital content execution.

You will coordinate daily news content production and projects between these areas, focusing specifically on an assigned group of languages. You will also work closely with the relevant group’s Program Manager/s and Executive Producers to ensure the digital strategy is on track to meet set KPIs.

About you

We’re looking for a driven, organised, can-do individual to contribute to ALC’s online success, working as a strong leader, a digital lynchpin, and a star collaborator between ALC’s language teams, digital content team, and other SBS content divisions. You will need 2+ years’ experience in a leading editorial role, editing and publishing digital news content. Experience in a broadcast/media production environment or newsroom is highly advantageous.

Most of all, you will be a digital content expert - a bastion of knowledge and advice for ALC language teams, coaching and collaborating on editorial / publishing best practice, digital strategy, and story development across teams.

We’re looking for someone with in-depth knowledge of world news and current affairs, able to practice and preach social media strategy, SEO, journalism standards, ideally with a working knowledge of Facebook marketing. At least two years’ experience in a leading editorial role is essential, as well as a proven track record of digital publishing, content coordination, and growing audiences with engaging, shareable digital content.
