About the role
We’re now looking for a Media Systems Manager to join the Audio and Language Content (ALC) team in Sydney. The ALC team delivers content in 68 languages on radio (SBS Radio 1,2 and 3, SBS Chill, SBS PopAsia, SBS PopDesi and SBS Arabic24), online and via social media. Reporting to the Network Manager ALC, this is a mid-senior role responsible for the management of ALC’s technology strategy and the implementation of production and broadcast technology systems.
You’ll project-manage technology upgrades on behalf of ALC, and manage ALC’s key content production and studio broadcast systems as well as the sourcing of music, images and equipment for ALC staff. You’ll interface with SBS Technology IT service desk on incident management and act as a single point of contact to manage broadcast anomalies and IT systems issues and meet the communication needs of ALC. In collaboration with SBS Technology, ALC Online and Senior ALC editorial colleagues, you’ll maintain a technology roadmap which aligns to ALC’s strategic current and future needs and develop and drive ALC’s policies of digital asset provision and retrieval.

You’ll be a coach and mentor to direct report(s) in the ALC Resource Centre and resources engaged for technology projects. You’ll act as a key interface between ALC’s editorial and training teams and SBS Technology and the wider SBS organisation. You’ll work with stakeholders including but not limited to SBS Technology, SBS Rights Management team, Program Managers, ALC Online and People & Culture. Working closely with ALC Quality and Standards, you will ensure the ALC Resource Centre and ALC’s broadcast team is supported with clear communications and relevant training. You’ll ensure technology initiatives comply with SBS’s Codes of Practice and Editorial Guidelines and other programming policies and standards.
We’re looking for someone who has previous experience in managing teams with a deep understanding of leadership and broadcast media. In addition, you will need extensive journalist and radio experience in a multi-platform and delivery environment. It’s fundamental that you have previously mentored and coached teams, and can demonstrate your ability to drive teams through change in a high performing culture.
