NITV Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist is a member of the Publicity team and is tasked with planning and executing communications/PR campaigns for NITV programs, talent and services ensuring effective and compelling communications through media – including print, online, broadcast and social media channels.

As part of this role, the Communications Specialist:

  • Works with journalists and media opinion formers;
  • Devise and deliver Communications/PR campaigns for a variety of programs to gain maximum coverage and awareness. Identifies opportunities and devises specific communications campaigns and develops materials based on the understanding of journalists’ interests;
  • Engages in face-to-face meetings with journalists and media commentators; develops written material supporting these campaigns; and counters misinformation that might interfere with our business and ability to serve our audiences;
  • Effectively identifies and contributes to the management of any media issues.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with key NITV stakeholders and NITV talent and their agents; and
  • Manages media integration and amplification of key NITV events.

The main tasks/responsibilities include:

Marketing & Communications

  • Devise, plan, implement and manage communications campaigns and activities to successfully promote NITV programs, talent and services.
  • Write succinct, accurate and compelling copy in accordance with communications plans to successfully promote NITV programs, talent and services including story pitches, messaging guidelines, media releases, Q&As and media kits.
  • Research, identify and use new channels and outlets for communications and promotion activities to strengthen the creativity and effectiveness of campaigns.
  • Provide briefings and advice for media interviews and events.
  • Help manage day-to-day media enquiries, special projects, and events.
  • Develop and maintain close productive relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) including NITV and SBS executives, talent, agents, media, bloggers, producers and journalists.
  • Produce effective and relevant evaluation reports for priority campaigns.
