NITV Correspondent

At NITV we celebrate and champion the place of unique, inspiring storytelling. We are current looking for two Correspondents to join our team and ready to come on the journey with us.

About the roles

We are flexible on the location across Australia; none of the positions are attached to a particular office. As a correspondent, you will take the lead in covering stories that are of national interest. You will work autonomously within a larger team to deliver regular content for NITV News and Current Affairs across all platforms. You will file stories across multiple platforms including TV, Online and Radio.

Additionally, you will report live from the field on breaking stories including presenting to camera and the operation of video & audio equipment. You will work with Digital Producers to create unique online content and generate social media engagement. Developing networks and relationships with key stakeholders and community leaders is critical to this role. 

As NITV’s representative, the correspondents have to remain informed of state issues and events with a particular focus on how Indigenous Australians are impacted.

About you

You will have a passion for storytelling and a hunger to deliver ground-breaking, original journalism. In addition, you’ll need to:

  • Have the ability to initiate and develop story ideas with minimal supervision
  • Have experience conducting high quality interviews, including sound research and script writing
  • Have the ability to file across platforms for television and online
  • Have a working knowledge of camera operation and non-linear digital editing for news. (NITV News and Current affairs works with Dalet and Adobe Premiere Pro editing systems)
  • Have the Ability to generate social media content that leads to greater engagement and interaction with online audiences
