Program Preparation / Post-Production Editor

This is a rare opportunity to be employed on an ongoing basis in one of the core and dynamic departments of SBS: The Subtitling and Program Preparation Unit is responsible for subtitling, closed captioning and program preparation for programs across all platforms at SBS. 

The role is to is to provide our audience access to SBS acquired and commissioned content, by editing vision and audio in our programming to a high broadcast standard appropriate to SBS’s needs. 

Duties involve but are not limited to:

  • Edit vision and audio to ensure SBS content is accessible to and suitable for SBS’s audience and broadcast requirements including editing content in languages, editing to timeslots and for classification.
  • Evaluate media that has failed quality. Determine whether the media can be accepted without alteration, fixed in-house, or request replacement material.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks to programs as required by Scheduling, Commissioned Content, NITV and other departments to ensure that they meet their transmission requirements.
  • Undertake administrative duties for the program preparation team to ensure that transmission priorities are attended to and associated data entry is kept up to date.
  • Act in the supervisor’s position when the position holder is on leave.

We are looking for a team player who is proactive and has a can-do attitude with experiences in editing vision and audio on transmission material to a high broadcast standard and in utilising a variety of editing software e.g. Adobe Premiere, After Effects,   Velocity ESX as well as knowledge of contemporary television production techniques. A strong understanding of technical standards, including OP59 would be advantageous along with the ability to adapt to ongoing changes in processes, priorities, tasks and workload.
