About the role

We're looking for a Security Engineer to join our IT Security team, where you will be performing the day-to-day security operations task, identifying and protecting our systems from security threats and assisting in automating security controls. You will be a key member of the security team performing security analysis, securing our technologies and maintaining security assurance.

You will perform log analysis to detect and respond to security events/incidents, and coordinate a cohesive response involving multiple teams across SBS. You will participate in security assessments of 3rd parties, networks, systems and applications delivered internally and externally.

Reporting to the Manager, Information and Security, you will also be responsible for:

  • Managing and, where possible, automating security controls and reporting (vulnerability management, system hardening, logging and monitoring, system integrity)
  • Reviewing and recommending technical and non-technical improvements to system and network security controls
  • Provide support to business stakeholders with security-related inquiries e.g. evaluation of third-party software products and solutions; and
  • Create and update documentation.

About you

You have a background in security / cloud operations, systems administration, and live and breathe security best practices, and are passionate about learning new security challenges and trends. You have at least 5 years of demonstrated experience in areas such as incident response, systems security, network, and/or application security, and have a degree in Computer Science/IT, or equivalent practical experience. You have a good a good understanding of security concepts, security operations, cloud and application security, and will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Familiarity with security assurance, security analysis, vulnerability management, system hardening programs
  • Familiarity with securing AWS-based infrastructure and services
  • Passion for security and automation
  • Understanding of networking infrastructure and firewall configuration
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills
  • A strong customer focus
  • Security certifications including CCNA, CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, GSEC (Desireable)
