Social Media Lead

We are investing in our digital future, and as part of this, we are seeking a skilled Social Media Lead to contribute to the success of digital and social platforms in SBS’ Audio and Language Content division (SBS Radio). 

About the role

The Social Media Lead is a key influencer role in the Audio & Language Content division (ALC). With more than one-fifth of Australians speaking a language other than English at home, SBS Radio is an essential service providing news and information in over 60 languages. The division has made a significant shift towards digital platforms in recent years, and this role is part of a small team of subject matter experts guiding this.

The Social Media Lead manages the governance of all social media accounts and communicates social content best practice to the division. The role oversees paid social campaigns, facilitates the rollout of new technology and social tools, and works with teams to aid better understanding social analytics and how social contributes to content strategy.

The role reports to the ALC Digital Strategy & Engagement Manager and supports SBS Radio program teams on social-led content projects.

About you

To be successful you’ll have a track record in managing multiple social profiles to grow audiences, with a deep understanding of social marketing and social content best practice.  

You will be someone who shares our curiosity about the world and sees value in diversity and building social cohesion in Australia. Additionally, to be successful you will have;

  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience working in social media or in digital/content marketing/advertising. Ideally, we’re looking for someone who has a good mix of editorial/content and social marketing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing social media strategy; preferably for a variety of clients/brands.
  • Demonstrated experience in a previous social media production role (using primarily Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
  • Demonstrated experience managing paid social advertising: namely Facebook Ads Manager.
  • Experience managing and rolling out new social platforms/communication tools for digital staff. E.g. Sprout Social, CrowdTangle.
  • Advanced experience using analytics software (Adobe, Google, Neilson, Sprout Social etc.) and reporting on social analytics.
  • Experience managing internal and external stakeholders and contractors. For example, 3rd party publishing/analytics providers.
  • The ability to train staff; run workshops and create training manuals to empower digital producers to produce and market social content effectively.
  • Experience managing a budget
  • Demonstrated experience using a CMS: Drupal, Wordpress or any similar platform.
  • Must be a team player and star collaborator. This role will work with the many different language teams in ALC and across the business with the core SBS social team and content teams.
