You’ll be part of a team which delivers distinctive cross platform stories of the highest editorial standards that highlight Australia’s multicultural nature and celebrate diversity.
With that in mind, are you ready to make the next step in your journalism career with SBS News? We are looking for a candidate with a strong track record in delivering news to the highest standards.
This is a fulltime, ongoing role based in Sydney, and will include assignments both domestically and internationally, for both breaking stories and original approved pitches.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to pitch and generate original stories for television, radio and online.
This role requires the candidate to deliver a consistently high standard of script with minimal supervision, and the capacity for specialist reporting.
You will have a demonstrated ability to deliver lead stories to tight deadlines. You will be identifying, arranging, and carrying out interviews as well as chasing exclusive and distinctive elements of stories in the field and from the office.
The successful applicant will be talented and driven with a proven ability to make and maintain contacts.
An ability to show technical adaptability and flexibility in the field and in the office is also essential.
The role demands journalists with a strong background in and knowledge of international and national events. In addition, you will have a sound understanding of stories which resonate with our diverse audiences, and knowledge of SBS Charter and SBS Code of Conduct.
Understanding the importance of social media and driving content online is a key part of the role.
An ability to travel for breaking news coverage and work a 7 day shift work roster is essential.
