The Department

The Television and Online Content division is at the heart of SBS's purpose, to make SBS Australia's most distinctive media organisation focused on delivering a clear promise to our audiences and to inspire them to seek out different perspectives, to feel a sense of connection, belonging and empowerment.

The Role

Reporting into the Acquisitions Manager, Scripted, this role supports both the Network Programming and the Content Discovery teams.

  • Network Programming: Working with the Acquisitions Manager, Scripted, to source, track, evaluate and discuss scripted content for SBS Channels and Platforms. Working within the team to assist the workflow of acquisitions from assessment through to contracting, delivery and broadcast.
  • Content Discovery: With a focus on priority scripted acquisitions, responsibilities will include sourcing and delivering the suite of materials required to bring key scripted programs to life for our audience e.g., artwork, scripts and subtitles, trailers. The role is collaborative, customer focussed, and solutions oriented, communicating with local & international Content Distribution partners as a daily function.
  • As a central point of contact for pre-broadcast information, the Scripted Assessment Specialist will keep an eye on program delivery updates and scheduling developments, anticipating the needs of internal clients in ASPP (subtitling), On Demand, ALC, Publicity & Marketing. The role manages a high volume of information and communications. The right candidate will be organised & communicative with experience coordinating and delivering to deadline.

About you

  • Minimum 3-4 years' experience in a television broadcast or VOD streaming platform role in the industry.
  • A genuine passion for scripted programming and a sound knowledge of the international content landscape
  • Sound editorial judgement with the ability to critically evaluate content and provide clear verbal and written assessments with direct reference to the SBS Charter, Platforms and Channels.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to forge strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communicating challenges and focussing on working through to solutions.
  • Contribute to a dynamic, high-performing team with the capacity to effectively time-manage, juggle competing priorities and work autonomously.
  • Highly motivated, can-do attitude with a willingness to seek out creative pathways, forward plan and engage with contributors.
  • Well organised with strong attention to detail and ability to read, enter and check large volumes of data. Previous experience with IBMS (Sintec/Operative), highly regarded. 
  • Computer literate, familiar with navigating web sites and cloud-based applications for downloadable media delivery e.g. DropBox, Aspera, Media Shuttle, We Transfer etc. Proficient in using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Powerpoint. Previous experience with IBMS (Sintec/Operative), highly regarded.
