The Department

At the heart of SBS, Audio and Language Content has over 60 language teams engaging audiences in conversations on Australian and international news and current affairs, and connecting communities through stories and providing settlement information. We deliver services across radio, podcasting, online and social media. 

The Role

The Punjabi Digital Content Producer is responsible for the production and delivery of distinctive and innovative multi-platform content (podcasts, articles, and audiovisual content) for the Punjabi-speaking audiences.
Reporting to the Executive Producer within our Audio and Language Content team this role will see you doing the following:

  • Undertaking and assisting with a range of journalism and content production tasks to provide multiplatform content
  • Proficiency in speaking, writing and typing in Punjabi as well as English. Also, you will be comfortable participating in a language assessment task as part of our interview process.
  • Source leads and produce regular online content generating traffic to meet KPIs.
  • Demonstrated professional experience using Facebook, X and Instagram would be an advantage.
  • To plan and manage digital content campaigns for key community events.
  • Contributing to divisional objectives through participation in cross-language content and other initiatives.
  • Good administrative abilities, including accuracy, numeracy, organisational skills and advanced editorial skills.
  • Using systems and equipment to edit and publish content.
  • You will have a demonstrated track record of producing original stories about the Punjabi-speaking audience in Australia and be able to produce digital stories within tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.

 

Candidates must have full working rights and reside in either Sydney or Melbourne to be eligible applicants.

This role is classified as Level 2 Content & Production.
These roles are being offered on a permanent part-time basis offering a minimum of 19 hours per week.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in professional broadcast journalism including: Ability to undertake tasks involved in the planning, preparation, production, presentation and delivery of multiplatform content.
  • Ability to write, compile and present news, sport and current affairs from a variety of sources.
  • Computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, and email.
  • Proficiency in English and in Punjabi both written and spoken including clear broadcast delivery.

 

(Candidates will be required to undergo a language assessment to demonstrate their proficiency in Punjabi).
