The Department

The Audio and Language Content team is seeking a part-time Producer to join us in the Sinhala language program. Audio and Language Content produces the most linguistically diverse public broadcasting in the world, providing Australian-focused news and information in 63 languages across live radio and digital platforms. 

The Role

With a sound understanding of the Sinhala-speaking community in Australia and its cultural sensitivities, as a producer, you will contribute to fostering audience engagement on-air and online. Prior experience in journalism or broadcasting will be highly regarded.

This role is being offered on a part-time basis of 12 hours per week and can be based from Sydney or Melbourne studios.  Rosters may be changed with notice and additional hours may become available based on operational needs. 

About you

To be considered, you will be able to prove: 

  • The ability to research, write, produce, translate and present audio content (including news, current affairs and community stories) on radio and/or online platforms.
  • Proficiency in speaking and typing in Sinhala as well as English. Also, you will be comfortable participating in a language assessment task as part of our interview process. 
  • Demonstrated professional experience using Facebook, Twitter and Instagram would be an advantage.
  • Candidates must have full working Australian rights and be based within Sydney or Melbourne.

The successful candidate is expected to undertake shift work which includes presenting on-air programs late in the evening and on weekends. Only residents based in Australia with working rights are eligible to apply.
