Codes & Guidelines Senior Advisor

This role is classified as Level 5 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $109,890 - $129,820). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The role

Are you ready to tackle the challenges of a rapidly evolving media landscape? As SBS's Codes and Guidelines Senior Advisor, you'll help safeguard the editorial independence and integrity at one of Australia's most trusted and innovative media services. 

Working across editorial and commercial teams, you'll provide expert advice, deliver training and contribute to the standards that guide SBS's content and commercial relationships. 

As part of a small, dedicated team, you'll help SBS maintain the highest standards of editorial independence and integrity.

Reporting to the Head of Codes and Guidelines you'll:

  • Strengthen editorial and commercial standards: Help develop and maintain the SBS Code of Practice and the SBS Commercial, Funding and External Relationships Guidelines, and related guidance material.
  • Be a trusted advisor: Provide expert guidance to editorial and commercial teams on regulatory requirements, editorial standards and commercial activities and partnerships.
  • Lead training: Develop and deliver engaging training and guidance materials that help teams apply SBS standards with confidence.
  • Monitor industry developments: Research emerging media, regulatory and policy trends to help ensure SBS's remain fit for purpose in a changing environment.

About you

We're looking for someone who brings 

  • 5 + years' experience developing or advising on policy and standards in a media environment
  • Strong research, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 
  • Experience interpreting regulatory and policy issues, providing practical advice and working across a broad range of editorial and commercial matters.
