International Correspondent (India)

This role is classified as Level 4 Content and Production role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $96,483 - $106,688). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework. 

As a rostered shift worker, additional shift penalty payments may apply for work performed outside of ordinary hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per the SBS Enterprise Agreement (EA). SBS may also require you to work reasonable overtime, where overtime will be paid at applicable rates in accordance with the EA.

The Role

Based in Delhi, India, and reporting to the International Editor, the International Correspondent will

  • Pitch, develop and deliver innovative and authoritative news, analysis and feature stories regarding issues across the region for all platforms, which align with the SBS Charter.
  • Provide material for audio and digital platforms including text, video and social media.
  • Arrange, produce and conduct interviews for inclusion in news and feature stories as well as for presenter-led interviews.
  • Shoot, edit and deliver original stories that resonate with our audience.
  • Provide logistics/production support for other SBS teams and SBS’s current affairs programs including Dateline.
  • Traveling on assignment across the region as directed by the International and Managing Editors.
  • Operating independently and managing bureau administration and finances in accordance with SBS protocols.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • A minimum of 5+ years broadcast journalism experience with strong writing and live ability.
  • Solid self-shooting and editing experience.
  • Digital content production experience.
  • Proven experience working solo in high pressure environments to tight deadlines.
  • A keen interest in and knowledge of the region.
