The Role 

As a member of the Infrastructure Operations team the Network Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day function and support of all network hardware, software, links and configurations that underpin the highly available business and broadcast systems, including installation, maintenance, upgrades, and continuous improvement to the SBS networking environment. 

Reporting into the Network and Storage Lead within our Technology team this role will see you:

  • Maintain, monitor, and support the network environment and facilities 
  • Work with the business and other technical teams for scoping, design, implementation, and maintenance of new solutions 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and automation 
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is created and maintained 
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support diagnosing and resolving complex issues 
  • Share your skills and knowledge with the Operations team 
  • Perform ad-hoc support out of hours for critical failures or scheduled works. 

About you 

Ideally you will have a background in Cisco campus wired and wireless, datacentre, and WAN networking in a deadline driven, time critical environment. 

In addition, it will be beneficial to have experience with: 

  • Cisco management platforms; DCNM/NDFC/Prime 
  • Cisco Campus and Datacenter network devices 
  • Cisco Wireless controllers and Access Points 
  • Cisco Firepower firewalls and ASR Routers 
  • Multicasting, BGP, OSPF and RIP routing protocols 
  • Exposure to F5 and Citrix load-balancers 
  • SDN & SDDC technologies and their applications 
  • An outcome focus and being able to think both analytically and laterally. 
  • Comfortable delivering to a project timeline or working independently. 
  • Knowledge or experience of the Broadcast/Production sector would be an advantage but not essential.
