This is an exciting opportunity to join the SBS News Audio team to work as an audio journalist, contributing to our daily news bulletins and pitching and producing original daily news podcasts.

This role is classified as Level 4 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $99,377-$109,890). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.
The role is rostered and involves a mix of early morning and afternoon shifts, Monday-Friday, and alternates in shifts with another Audio Supervising Producer. This may also include some weekend on-call work.
As a rostered shiftworker, additional shift penalty payments may apply for work performed outside of ordinary hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per the SBS Enterprise Agreement (EA). SBS may also require you to work reasonable overtime, where overtime will be paid at applicable rates in accordance with the EA. Shift patterns may change over time depending on operational needs.
The role
We’re looking for an Audio Supervising Producer to elevate SBS News’ audio output. Working to the SBS News Audio Lead, you’ll commission and guide daily audio content including lining up and overseeing our daily news bulletins, and commissioning and supervising daily in-depth news feature podcasts, as well as contributing to the production to podcast series such as On the Money, World News Weekly and other news feature series’.
You’ll work closely with the Audio Lead to ensure our content is accurate, engaging and aligned with SBS’s Charter.
News podcasting is an exciting and growing area, and this role presents an opportunity to make an impact in this field, and bring compelling, distinctive and original journalism to podcast audiences. You’ll play a key role in shaping how audiences connect with our news, driving excellence in storytelling, production and digital delivery across platforms.
Our Audio News team is unique in the Australian media landscape. Along with distributing daily news content on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other leading podcast providers, it provides daily news and feature stories for translation by our 60+ language teams and plays a positive role in helping inform all Australians about the stories that matter to them.
