The Department

The Streaming and Digital Products (SDP) division of SBS is responsible for our digital offerings, including the SBS website, our award-winning podcasts, and SBS On Demand.

The Role

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, the Senior Engineer will play a critical role in building, maintaining, and extending AWS cloud-native services which form the backbone of our streaming offering, SBS On Demand.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering high-quality code which adheres to industry best-practices
• Researching new technologies, tools, and practices which could complement and enhance the capabilities of the team
• Communicating with business-analysts and peers to assist with identifying and mitigating risks which come up during product-development
• Collaborating closely with other engineers to help deliver complex solutions

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings:

• 5+ years of experience developing software in a modern language, such as Go, Elixir, Python, Typsecript, or similar
• A comprehensive understanding of cloud-native development practices with a preference for AWS knowledge, but Azure or GCP experience would still be beneficial
• Experience with the tooling which is typical for a modern software engineer, such as version control systems, code quality tools such as linters and static-analysis providers, continuous integration/deployment systems
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IAC) tools such as Terraform
