The Department

The Audience Data & Insights Team, forms part of the Corporate Strategy Division. The team is expanding, as we evolve the work we do, paving the way for SBS’s audience-led, data driven transformation, for the benefit of all Australians. A team of passionate and curious researchers, we strive through creating opportunities through insights to tell stories.

The Role

The role is responsible for delivering insight driven bespoke research, partnering with various key business functions, including Content and Marketing, to support business strategy and drive decision making.

Reporting into the Senior Audience Research Manager, within the Audience Data & Insights Team. The core responsibilities of the role are:

  • Partner with key areas of the business, including Content and Marketing, to develop, manage and deliver bespoke research projects
  • Develop clear actionable insights and present to key decision makers across the business to inform and guide their decisions
  • Ownership of bespoke content evaluations of SBS commissioned programs, bespoke marketing campaign evaluations and Brand Health tracking activities
  • Script research activities into online questionnaire tools, manage data collection and data cleaning.
  • Responsibility for day-to-day management and engagement of multiple research panels, as well as engagement with key external research vendors
  • Work closely with the broader Audience Research team
  • Play a key role in qualitative research conducted by the team
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting
  • Help the business leverage on existing marketing segmentation and develop bespoke target audiences for key content moments
  • It is a requirement of this role that incumbents are vaccinated with at least two doses of an approved Covid-19 vaccination. We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.

About you

  • Strong market research experience desired, with broadcast or media knowledge an advantage
  • Hands on quantitative research experience (from design to delivery), with strong reporting skills and ability to present a clear narrative to stakeholders. Qualitative research experience an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable insights and produce impactful and actionable recommendations to stakeholders, in the form of written reports and spoken presentations
  • Strong attention to detail, statistical analysis and accuracy with data
  • High proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), statistical packages (Q and SPSS), survey software (Sparq an advantage), as well as strong data visualisation skills
  • Experience with audience insights platforms (e.g. Nielsen Consumer Media View - CMV) and digital data analytics tools (e.g. Adobe Analytics)
  • Agile, with the ability to work on concurring deadlines
  • Tertiary qualifications that include training in research and statistics
