Cross Platform Journalist, NITV

National Indigenous Television (NITV) are looking for a passionate journalist to contribute to the network’s rich storytelling across television and digital platforms.   

The role  

Reporting to the Executive Editor, the successful applicant will write and produce daily stories for NITV News and online content for NITV’s digital platforms.  

  • Research, write and produce news content for television and digital platforms with a primacy of Indigenous voice and perspective on a daily ensuring they are in-line with SBS Purpose & Values, SBS Codes of Practice and Editorial Guidelines  
  • Write online copy for fast turnaround on breaking news.  
  • File daily to NITV News on all platforms  
  • News reading/presenting opportunities  
  • Filing to long form current affairs program, The Point  
  • It is a requirement of this role that incumbents are vaccinated with at least two doses of an approved Covid-19 vaccination. We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.    

About you  

The successful candidate will be highly motivated with a meticulous eye for detail and will have a high degree of initiative. You will have a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality work in a broadcast environment with firm delivery time-lines. 

  • Journalism skills, including; reporting, writing and editing skills, and a strong knowledge of local and national Indigenous news and current affairs.  
  • A demonstrated ability to work to editorial guidelines, delivery time-lines, as well as manage long-term projects.  
  • Plan, prepare, assess, research, write, edit and produce high quality news & feature scripts for TV & online 
  • Generate, develop and foster content ideas for the relevant platform, including identifying and using
