The Role

Working within NITV’s Indigenous News and Current Affairs (INACA) team, the Cross Platform journalist will primarily report on Indigenous news, issues and events for NITV News, Nula, The Point and Living Black, as well as NITV Digital platforms and social media.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in pitching, researching, writing, producing, voicing and editing high quality, original and engaging news and current affairs stories, interviews and digital content for INACA programs.

This role is a full time position, preferably based in our Sydney newsroom, however we would consider a Melbourne or Canberra base for the right candidate.

About you

We are looking for a creative storyteller, with strong research skills, who is passionate about elevating and amplifying the voices of First Nations people and communities.

Ideally, you will have two years proven experience in journalism and/or media broadcasting, including the production and presentation of original, multi-platform news and current affairs content (television, online and social media).  An understanding of, or experience in, camera, sound and editing systems is also highly valued. 

Working as part of a small team, you’ll have a positive and solutions orientated attitude with the ability to work under pressure, and meet strict broadcast deadlines.

You’ll have a deep understanding of Indigenous Cultural Protocol and the ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
