Our Audio and Language Content (ALC) division is the heartbeat of SBS. Delivering SBS Charter-focused and community relevant, news, current affairs, information, entertainment and music, our services are available on radio, online, via digital television and social media, as well as offering a variety of podcasts. Servicing 60+ languages, SBS Radio and audio services are dedicated to the nearly five million Australians who speak a language other than English at home, as well as NITV Radio that celebrates the unique storytelling of First Nations Peoples. 

About the role 

We are looking for a skilled and creative Digital Content Editor to join the team at SBS Radio on a full-time ongoing basis.  

Working with SBS Radio’s many language radio programs, you will be need to pro-actively identify and help tell the most compelling stories about contemporary and diverse Australia over a variety of media. 

You are a confident, creative, and collaborative storyteller with excellent subediting, headline writing, and pitching skills. 

About you 

Our successful applicant will have confidently demonstrable experience in a leading editorial role, and a firm grasp on Australian and international news and events.   

  • Proven experience and understanding of working in multicultural settings, and an intimate appreciation of different cultural and lingual perspectives. 
  • A desire to collaborate efficiently and positively with colleagues inside SBS Radio and across SBS.
  • Close familiarity with current digital publishing systems, processes and trends, as well as ideas on how to engage digital audiences into the future

This role will be required to work from either Sydney or Melbourne SBS offices, and remotely from home amid relevant restrictions.

It is a requirement of this role that incumbents are vaccinated with at least two doses of an approved Covid-19 vaccination. We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.
