As SBS’s our groundbreaking current affairs programs hold a unique place in Australia’s cultural landscape. This role is an exciting opportunity to bring Insight and Dateline’s stories to digital audiences, commission and contribute original digital storytelling and oversee video content for YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a dynamic and creative individual as a casual Digital Current Affairs Producer. You will work closely with broadcast team to adapt Insight and Dateline’s content and champion it for digital – for SBS’s website, Apple News, and third-party video platforms.  

  • Edit, commission and write articles for Insight and Dateline 
  • Write, produce and create social content including Instagram carousels and catchy social videos.
  • Oversee and produce video content for Insight and Dateline’s third-party platforms including YouTube, Instagram and Facebook
  • Use performance data to inform editorial choices

Ideally, you will have:

  • Strong digital editorial skills, including sharp writing and copy editing, a working knowledge of SEO and writing digital-friendly headlines  
  • Ability to monitor and report on analytics, using data to drive editorial pitches, video and social content decisions
  • A social-first view for story pitches and content creation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience as a journalist in digital formats
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team, frequently liaising with broadcast production teams.
  • Enthusiasm for digital developments and the ability to spot new opportunities.
  • A strong understanding of third party platforms, and current video styles on different platforms
  • Video producing skills, including experience with Premiere Pro are highly desirable.
