The Role 

SBS News is looking for a talented journalist to contribute to our digital platforms with distinctive and compelling charter-orientated journalism from Parliament House. This is a key role in a small team, where you'll have the opportunity to contribute with interviews, logging and story collaboration for TV.

This role will contribute news, feature and explainer articles to SBS News as well as working in collaboration with our digital video team, providing coverage on SBS News site and app, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.

Reporting for SBS World News will also form part of the role, and full training will be provided. 

Ideally, you will be available to work one Sunday in every three.

This is a great opportunity to work for Australia’s multicultural media organisation and play a key role in the evolution of SBS. 

About you 

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience as a digital and/or broadcast journalist  
• Strong knowledge of Federal and/or State politics 
• A sound understanding of the kind of political stories which resonate with our diverse audiences 
• Commitment to the SBS Charter  
• A passion for bringing distinctive political content to growing digital platforms
• Strong copy writing skills, and an understanding the SBS News digital audience 
• Ability to work a seven day roster and travel when required
