Digital Journalist, NITV

National Indigenous Television (NITV) is looking for a creative and passionate digital dynamite to contribute to the network’s rich storytelling across their Digital Platforms.   

This is a dynamic role where you will have the opportunity to write across different genres and forms for online audiences, while also producing multimedia content and editing on our social platforms.  

The Role  

Reporting to the Head of Digital, the successful applicant will write and produce daily stories and update video and multimedia content for all NITV digital platforms.  

  • Research, write and produce news articles, create multimedia features, social media and other digital content on a daily basis, ensuring they are in line with SBS Purpose & Values, SBS Codes of Practice and Editorial Guidelines and timelines.  
  • Write online copy for fast turnaround on breaking news.  
  • In conjunction with NITV & SBS Online, develop innovative editorial ideas designed to build audience and engagement across NITV/SBS sites.  
  • Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.  
  • Engage in clear and open communication with all NITV departments to build our online presence.  
  • It is a requirement of this role that incumbents are vaccinated with at least two doses of an approved Covid-19 vaccination. We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.    

About you  

The successful candidate will be highly motivated with a meticulous eye for detail and will have a high degree of initiative. You will have a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work in a broadcast environment with firm delivery timelines. 

  • Journalism skills, including; reporting, writing and editing skills, and a strong knowledge of local and national Indigenous news and current affairs.  
  • A demonstrated ability to work to editorial guidelines, delivery timelines, as well as manage long-term projects.  
  • Strong skills in social media  
  • Ability to find new storytelling methods and the ability to repurpose digital content in a creative way across a variety of mediums and platforms.  
  • Proven ability to generate social media content that leads to greater engagement and interaction with online audiences.  
  • Good knowledge of media law and community management best-practice, including the ability to moderate and edit forums, blogs and other user-generated content.
