There’s a reason people work at SBS.
Everyone has a story that influenced their choice to join the world’s most diverse and inclusive public broadcaster. Over the years, SBS has grown into one of the most unique and linguistically diverse multicultural broadcasters in the world today. Delivering SBS Charter-focused and community relevant, news, current affairs, information, entertainment and music, our services are available on radio, online, via digital television and social media, as well as offering a variety of podcasts. Servicing 60+ languages, SBS Radio and audio services are dedicated to the nearly five million Australians who speak a language other than English at home.
To further deliver on our purpose and Charter, we are proudly announcing we will be launching SBS-produced television news bulletins in Mandarin. These 30-minute bulletins will be delivered Monday-Friday and will focus on Australian news, particularly reflecting the perspectives of Mandarin-speaking communities in Australia. The services will also include national and international coverage of events and issues of particular interest and relevance to these communities. We are planning to launch before the end of the year.
With that in mind, SBS is now looking for a creative television Executive Producer to help launch and lead this new TV news service.
About the role
This unique opportunity is full time ongoing. The role will be based in Sydney for operational reasons so candidates currently based in other states will need to be willing to relocate.
The news service will form part of our News and Current Affairs department. This new team will work hand in hand with our existing Mandarin-speaking team in the Audio Language and Content division, a team which delivers radio, podcasts, online and social media content. The Executive Producer will drive the overall news agenda and program strategy; manage the performance and output of the team, monitor editorial standards and compliance; collaborate with other news and current affairs teams across the business to identify, develop and promote distinctive and exclusive stories.
