The Department

The SBS People & Culture team are responsible for creating amazing employee experiences. We look after our people and help to cultivate the workplace environment and its culture. We oversee and support the entire employee lifecycle as well as providing the SBS team with the full spectrum of HR services and processes including Payroll, Safety, Learning, Health & Wellbeing, Employment Relations, Diversity & Inclusion, Talent Acquisition and Capability Development.  We are here to ensure everyone understands what it means to be part of the SBS Team and support all our employees in becoming the best they can be. 

The Role

We are currently taking expressions of interest for a First Nations P&C Business Partner. 

As a key role within the P&C team, this role would see you partnering with different areas of the business as allocated and playing a key role in contributing to the delivery of the People & Culture function for SBS. This includes functioning as a subject matter expert and providing advice, guidance and support to enable business leaders to achieve their goals and deliver an amazing employee experience for highly engaged teams. Some of the primary activities this role will be responsible for include: 

  • Building trusted high-quality partnerships with divisional Directors and their leadership teams in order to effectively progress the agreed people agenda and strategy for the business
     
  • Providing end-to-end support and advice on talent sourcing and acquisition within assigned business units as well as for Indigenous identified roles throughout the business
  • Build capability and enable leaders to effectively manage their teams in line with SBS Values and Leadership Behaviours.
  • Oversee the entire employee lifecycle including recruitment, induction, talent management, salary reviews and succession planning for the assigned business units.
  •  Provide coaching, mentorship, advice and support to leaders to ensure effective and responsive workforce management practices are in place. 
  • Pro-actively respond, support on matters relating to employee welfare, safety, employee relations and grievances as well as performance management outcomes.  
  • Support the SBS People & Culture function to ensure culturally appropriate implementation of processes, practices and policies 
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to divisional leadership teams for complex employment legal matters, discussions with employee representatives and unions as well as complaints and investigations.  
  • Promote a learning and development approach to encourage high performance.
  • Coach and build the capability of senior managers to support and develop their teams.

It is a requirement of this role that incumbents have had two vaccinations with an approved Covid-19 vaccination in line with the ATAGI guidelines.  We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.

 About you

  • Outstanding and influential relationships and evidenced partnership with internal and external stakeholders including senior leaders at an ExCom level.
     
  • Experience across HR generalist domains including performance management, employee relations, organisational development, change management and talent acquisition.
     
  • Proven experience in managing complex change initiatives through effective consultation and implementation in order to deliver on strategy.
     
  • High developed communication, persuasion and influencing skills.
     
  • Demonstrated highly developed problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience delivering strategic initiatives to achieve tangible outcomes.
     
  • Strong interpretive knowledge of legislation and industrial instruments governing employment in Australia.
