Lead Podcast Producer

The department 

SBS Radio, known internally as Audio and Language Content, is the heartbeat of SBS. We deliver SBS Charter-focused and community relevant news, information and entertainment on podcast, radio, web, via digital television and on social media. 

Servicing over 60 languages, SBS Radio services are dedicated to the nearly five million Australians who speak a language other than English at home, as well as NITV Radio which celebrates the unique storytelling of First Nations Peoples. 

About the role 

We are looking for a skilled and creative Lead Podcast Producer to join the podcast team within SBS Audio and Language Content (ALC) on an ongoing, full time basis. 

The role reports to the Digital Audio and Podcast Manager. 

The Lead Podcast Producer will be a subject matter expert in podcast creation and distribution. This role will drive the implementation of ALC’s digital audio strategy and help contribute to the audience growth by enabling content teams to produce engaging on-demand digital audio and podcasts for their target audiences. 

About you 

You will be a highly organised podcast producer with demonstrated experience in podcast creation and distribution, having managed multiple podcast feeds on owned and third-party platforms. You will have advanced editorial skills, project management skills, and deep knowledge of podcasting. 


  • A desire to collaborate efficiently and positively with colleagues in a multicultural and multilingual setting. 
  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience working in digital-first audio content creation and distribution. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing digital audio product and podcasting strategies. 
  • Keen awareness of industry podcast standards, developments, and trends. 
  • Experience project managing the production and distribution of podcast series. 
  • Experience launching and managing podcasts on third party platforms. 
  • Experience in fostering content partnerships and relationships with external parties. 
  • Experience using analytics software (Adobe, Google Analytics) and third-party platforms such as Apple Podcasts connect, Spotify for Podcasters. 
  • Outstanding communication and coaching skills.
