About the Role 

We are looking for an ENG (Electronic News Gathering) Supervisor based in Federation Square in Melbourne. This is a permanent full-time role that will be responsible for the client facing services of our ENG and EFP (Electronic Field Production) cameras, TVU (cellular bonded back packs), in field editing and bureau operations. The Melbourne team is small and efficient, consisting of two fulltime camera operators and five freelance operators, and as well as leading this team to deliver service excellence, you will operate ENG Camera & Editing Equipment on location to ensure bureau production demands are met. We will be looking to you to drive participation, integration and utilisation of our technology solutions and support the adoption of new technology solutions.  

The Role will report directly to the ENG & EFP Manager in Sydney and work closely with the Supervisor in Canberra to ensure a One Team environment is maintained, and to provide ongoing excellent service to our internal and external clients. Clear and regular communication is vital between the three areas to create a platform to distribute changes and training for staff and discussions around technology and workflows that will benefit all areas of the Camera Department. 

The role will require you to work shifts and be willing to travel interstate and overseas as required (and when possible!). 

About you 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about our brand and what we stand for. With a key remit to drive service excellence you will be motivated by serving others. Because of the structure of the team, you will need to be ok to be on the field and being operational as well as working at a higher-level view.  

We need you to come with demonstrated experience with all aspects of news and production in the field including image capture, editing, lighting, live signal delivery and post-production techniques. Key to your success, you will have; 

  • Experience as an ENG camera operator with a proven ability to deliver content in a timely manner, while maintaining high standards. 
  • Experience in production camera work with a high level of lighting techniques and sound recording. 
  • Demonstrated video editing skills and an understanding of working in news and current affairs. 
  • Willingness to learn and be across new broadcast technology and continually search for workflow improvements. 
  • Demonstrated experience and passion for coaching and mentoring others 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and influence in a fast paced, multi-discipline environment.
