Network Engineer

The SBS technical landscape is constantly evolving, and with Television, Radio and Online SBS needs a strong technology foundation to support it’s broadcast, business and diversity needs.  An opportunity exists to join the Operations team supporting all aspects of the Infrastructure on which business and broadcast happen, and be involved in the exciting technical transformations evolving the way we provide services across the business.

About the Role

As a member of the Infrastructure Operations team the Network Engineer is responsible for the day to day function and support of all network hardware, software, links and configurations that underpin the highly available business and broadcast systems, including installation, maintenance, upgrades, and continuous improvement to the SBS networking environment. In this role you will:

  • Maintain, monitor and support the network environment and facilities
  • Work with the business and other technical teams the scoping, design, implementation and maintenance of new solutions
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and automation
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is created and maintained
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support diagnosing and resolving complex issues
  • Share your skills and knowledge with the Operations team
  • Follow internal processes and workflows as required

About You

You have advanced networking and systems experience in a deadline driven, time critical environment, including:

  • Nexus 9K and VXLAN
  • Cisco Catalyst based Network Switches and routers
  • Cisco Wireless Access Points, Cisco Prime and Cisco DCNM management
  • Cisco Firepower and Cisco ASA 5000 firewalls and ASR 1000 Routers
  • Checkpoint firewall
  • BGP, RIP routing protocols
  • Multicasting
  • SDN & SDDC technologies and their applications

You are outcome focused and able to think both analytically and laterally. Experience in developing, maintaining and delivering to a project timeline or delivery, and working independently is essential for this role.

Knowledge or experience of the Broadcast/Production sector would be an advantage but not essential.
