The Department

ALC is the heartbeat of SBS, delivering SBS Charter-focused news, information, and entertainment via radio, podcasts social media and online platforms. With more than 100 podcasts in over 60 languages, our digital audio services are dedicated to all Australians including the more than five million people who speak a language other than English at home. 

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced people leader with proven experience in content and editorial management to join the Content Leadership team within SBS' Audio and Language Content division (ALC).

Reporting into the Head of Language Content, this role will see you leading and directing a team of Executive Producers to plan and manage the production, implementation and distribution of distinctive, innovative multi-platform audio and video content.

This role is being offered full-time on-going and can be based out of either Sydney (Artarmon Studios) or Melbourne (Federation Square Studios). 

About you

  • Demonstrated experience being a leader with an extensive digital journalism and broadcasting track record.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in managing mid-size to large teams.
  • High level of operational and strategic understanding of a multi-platform delivery environment.
  • Strong planning, and organisational skills combined with advanced interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency (both oral and written) in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

As part of the recruitment process, selected applicants may be required to undergo language assessment screening in both Mandarin and Cantonese.

Additionally, applicants must have full Australian working rights to work domestically within Australia.
