This role is classified as Commercial Level 4 (pro-rata annual base salary AUD 94,130 to AUD 104,087) under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement. The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework. 

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Communications Specialist to join our vibrant Publicity team. Reporting to the Publicity Manager within the Marketing team, the Senior Communications Specialist will be responsible for the planning, development and delivery of strategic communications campaigns across SBS channels for a variety of SBS programs (entertainment, documentaries, news and current affairs, sport and drama).

This is a Sydney-based Contract role, Jan 2025 till end of Oct 2025, with hybrid working arrangements. 

About you

• You’ll have at least six years’ experience implementing effective publicity and communications campaigns across a variety of genres and a proven ability to work on complex campaigns independently with limited senior supervision.
• Strong writing and editing skills with demonstrated experience writing effective media releases and story pitches.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully managing complex issues.
• Strong talent management skills with experience coordinating events and photoshoots.
• An understanding of the Australian media landscape, public broadcasting environment and an established network of media contacts.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in considering and resolving issues.
• Experience and comfort working in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
• Experience working with media monitoring and analytics tools to produce effective and relevant evaluation reports for campaigns.
• The Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for undertaking their work in a way that reflects SBS’s Charter, Vision and Values and complies with relevant SBS policies, procedures and practices.
